Munich, Germany
March 12 - 15, 2008

Due to the enormous progress of molecular biology during the past decade and our increasing understanding of the mechanisms relevant to the genesis of cancer, we are experiencing a transition from disease to target-oriented therapy. This has a strong impact on the development paradigm of cancer therapeutics.
Thus the challenge of bringing new therapeutics to clinical application and registration now focuses on the molecular target expressed by the malignant cell rather than treatment of the histopathological entity itself. A new generation of drugs has found its way from bench to the bedside and can complement or in some cases even replace chemotherapy and other long established treatment modalities.
To date, breakthroughs have mainly been achieved with therapeutic monoclonal antibodies or signal transduction inhibitors. Numerous further classes of biological agents are in clinical development and are expected to revolutionize medical therapy of cancer even more.
The 9th International Congress on “Biological Therapy of Cancer” will again be held in Munich, 12th-15th March 2008 under the auspices of the Tumor Center Munich. Like the previous meetings, BTOC-9 will focus on the clinical development of a broad spectrum of anticancer agents with an emphasis on immunomodulatory agents such as monoclonal antibodies, vaccines and gene therapeutic approaches.
